The Nova Sport Register Goes Live!

Hello fellow Vauxhall enthusiasts and a very warm welcome to the Nova Sport Register.

We are pleased to welcome you to the Nova Sport Register and our first blog post. January 2015  is a hugely important month for the Nova Sport as its marks the 30th birthday of the cars launch. This is a huge milestone and to mark the occasion the Nova Sport Register team have been working for many months towards launching this platform in time to celebrate the official Birthday date.

So why was the Nova Sport Register Created?

As fellow Nova Sport enthusiasts we are sure you with agree with us that if you are active in the “Vauxhall Community” that information on the Sport is out there in the public domain to be found but it is spread thinly across multiple resources, tucked away in the back of draws and filing cabinets and in many cases enthusiasts heads. After spending countless hours over a number of years researching the Sport via internet & the various Vauxhall communities we came up with the idea of running a project to bring all this information into a consolidated platform which can be easily accessed by anyone who shares the same passion as us all or simply wants to learn more about the cars history. This makes it easier for the enthusiast who does not have infinite hours to search Google, Forums and Facebook (to name a few) for vital information and in turn create a ready made detailed and dedicated resource for everyone to enjoy and become active in. We hope you will agree that we have achieved our initial goal and the personal & financial sacrifices we have made to bring the platform to the community has been worth all of the effort.

So what content will you find within the Nova Sport Register?

After the initial project concept was discussed we quickly realised that we had created a huge amount of work for ourselves by taking this project on which no doubt is the reason this has never been attempted before. Nova Sport development information was was hard to come by and varying accounts of how the car was actually conceived and developed were being brought to our attention. With this in mind we have tried to make sure that all the information in front of you is as accurate as possible. The only way we could 100% ensure this was the case was to speak to the individuals that developed the car 30+ years ago. After more internet research we managed to track down the original developers who have supplied and advised on the content you see today.

You will find historical information on the cars Prototype development, Why it was made, The launch, Sport component parts and Motorsport heritage to name a few. We have also  included ownership information on how to spot a sport, Authentic restorations, Servicing parts and other useful resources.

The star of the site is the Register itself. We are proud to have collected information on over 155 Sports (Nearly one third of the original cars) to date and they are all displayed in the “Register” on the website. You may even recognise a few  of these and we hope you enjoy browsing through the cars. Be sure to check out the “Live Data” tab as these graphs are fed instantly & directly from our database and update as we make changes and discover new information. You will find some interesting statistics and looking at the 155+ cars for the first time really does help you to see how many of the cars are on / off the road etc. Also on the website you will find lots more useful information from various sources.

The Future is Bright!

Although we have accumulated and presented you with a huge amount of information whilst working on this project we believe we have only just scratched the surface of what is available out there in the pubic domain. We hope that the launch of this platform will encourage enthusiasts like yourself to dig deep into your achieves and memory banks to pull out the hidden pieces of information we all crave. We see this as the start of a community learning experience and hope you actively participate in piecing this huge jigsaw together.

In the near future we will be adding articles to this blog, updating the register as we receive information on new cars, adding further items to our shop and working on 2015 event planning to celebrate the 2015 VBOA in style. We hope you will join us with our without your sport. It would be great to meet some new faces and hear your stories of Sport ownership, past or present.

With the above information in mind the register team feel this can only be taken as good news for the community as a whole and not to mention the cars themselves. With classic values rapidly increasing and hidden cars coming out of the wood work due to social media, owners re ignighting there long lost enthusiasm or stored examples being sold on we can only see the community being as strong as ever in 2015.
