Alternator Brackets

To accommodate for the addition of the Twin 40 Carburetors, the alternator required lowering from its stock postion. Included in the Sport Pack were two modified alternator brackets which we have pictured below for your reference.

We are unsure of any further information on the Alternator Lowering Bracket but the one that mounts to the engine block is stamped with 157 on it. There have been a few after-market alternator brackets over the years but a genuine Sport item will be marked with the above number.

Hoses

A couple of the hoses in the engine bay of the Sport had to be changed around due to the new Irmscher Inlet Manifold, one of them the hose from the heater matrix running to the O/S of the car to the Inlet Manifold. Also needing to be changed were the fuel hoses from the fuel pump to the Twin 40’s as there were now ‘2 mouths to feed’.

Air Filter

The Air Filter used in the Nova Sport’s Irmscher Airbox was one out of the parts bin. From records, we believe it was a Bedford Van item – in the future we hope to be able to check old part numbers to confirm this, or gain information from someone in the know who helped put the Sport pack together, just exactly where the air filter was sourced from.

Fanbelt

The Nova Sport used a shorter fanbelt to what was fitted to the Nova 1.3 SR. Again, we will need to search through old part numbers and speak to people who put the pack together to see exactly where it came from.

Current restoration cars are known to be running a fanbelt with the 10mm X 850mm dimension and this seems to be a perfect fitment for the Nova Sport running the lowered alternator brackets and Twin 40’s

Throttle Cable

The original 1.3 Nova SR throttle cable had to be changed as it didn’t work with the newly fitted Twin 40’s. Many people believed the item used originally was from a Manta, but after some digging around it seems that the throttle cable (a direct fitment to the original Sport Carbs and Throttle Linkage), is one from a Mk1 Astra 1300 8v.

We will try our best to locate a part number for this item, as these are possible to source through Motor Factors and other car parts outlets.

Air Box Hose

The Nova Sport came with a hot/cold weather air intake hose. From records and searching online, it looks to be a Manta item with part number 90019462 made from a cardboard material and 60mm in diameter. It takes some squashing to fit around the inlet of the Irmscher UK Airbox, it’s a very snug fit and usually the final piece of a Sport engine bay.
